What does it mean when a product is certified by QAI?
QAI is a Standards Council of Canada (SCC) accredited certification body. The QAI logo is recognized and accepted by all of the authorities having jurisdiction throughout the Provinces and Territories of Canada. A product certified by QAI is able to apply the QAI logo. The logo indicates QAI has evaluated and tested the product and is in conformity with specific standards.
How do I get my products certified?
First contact QAI and talk to one of our certification experts. We will send you an application form and quotation for certification. If the client accepts the quotation, QAI then requests that the client review the instructions for product submission and submit any relevant information pertaining to their products. This may include items such as dimensional drawings, wiring diagrams, plumbing blue prints, lists of components and materials. All of the items submitted to QAI are kept in the client file and compiled into an evaluation report. The next step is for QAI to conduct an initial plant inspection of the manufacturing facilities. Plant inspections are carried out twice per year (minimum) by a QAI inspector. The purpose of the inspections is to establish continued compliance with the applicable standard and to identify any areas of needed improvement in the manufacturers quality system. Once the above steps have been completed, a listing agreement is signed and QAI will issue a listing letter and listing page. This means that the client is able to apply the QAI logo.
What is the Directory of Listed Products?
The directory of listed products is located directly on our website. This directory contains information about each product that is listed by QAI. It is used as a tool for consumers and inspectors to look up a product to ensure that it has been evaluated to the applicable standards.
