QAI GOLD STANDARD Certification procedures:
Mills are never given the QAI gold standard label unless another regular QAI certification label is used in the mill. We only allow the Gold Standard Labels to be placed on the best product the mill produces.
Mills must be consistently on-grade prior to QAI considering an application for the QAI GOLD STANDARD LABEL.
If QAI Gold Standard labels are found on product that does not comply with the QAI GOLD STANDARD, labels are immediately suspended from the mill. Labels will not be returned until the mill has satisfied the Inspector, the QAI Shake and Shingle Division Manager and that the cause of the problem has been fixed and the problem will not occur again.
Mills that qualify for the QAI Gold Standard Label are under the QAI microscope. They are inspected more often and more rigorously than mills under any other certification program. It is the Shake and Shingle industries highest level of shake and shingle mill certification.
