QAI has now added
another accreditation to their industry-leading services in the
testing, inspection, certification, and code-compliance of building
products. In August 2010, QAI became accredited by the National
Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) to perform energy-efficiency
computer simulations of Doors, Windows, and Skylights, a requirement
to qualify for the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Energy
Star labeling program. This will complement QAI’s existing Canadian
Energy Star program.
“We have been active in the Energy Star programs in Canada
for years, and this will now allow us to extend the program to
manufacturers selling products in the US. We are excited about this
expansion of services and feel it will become a great benefit for
our door and window manufacturer clients in the US and Canada.”

Chris Scoville,
Senior Project Manager (NFRC)

ABOUT NFRC:
NFRC is a
non-profit organization that administers independent rating and
labeling system for the energy performance of windows, doors,
skylights, and attachment products. NFRC is the only agency in the
United States permitted by the EPA to issue Energy Star ratings and
labels for doors, windows, and their accessory products. The goal of
the NFRC is to provide accurate and reliable energy performance
ratings that enable consumers to make fair comparisons of different
products, informed product choices, and determine if products meet
local codes.
